When specifications, operating assumptions and supporting data live in different files, a product is difficult to explain and maintain. We define the decision the application must support, then map the inputs, units, calculations and review responsibilities behind it. The interface should show what is known, what was assumed and when a result needs further review. Begin with one repeatable decision and a sample dataset before committing to a larger platform.
Define a useful first release.
Use one calculation with a known answer as the reference case. Supply the input files, unit definitions, formula owner and examples of missing or extreme values. Agree how the application will display assumptions, reject invalid inputs and record formula changes. A subject-matter expert should be able to reproduce the result before the tool is released more broadly.
