Earn visibility in AI search by being useful and verifiable.
Build AI search visibility through specific answers, credible evidence, accessible pages, and measurement that acknowledges what attribution cannot show.
For AI search visibility, start with pages a buyer can use and a search system can access: a direct answer, supporting evidence, clear internal links and accurate service information. There is no special phrase that guarantees a citation. The practical work overlaps with good search optimization and good editorial judgment.
Write for the decision a buyer needs to make
Begin with questions your commercial and delivery teams actually receive. Which operating problem does the service address? What must be in place before work begins? What does implementation involve? Where does the approach fit poorly? Publish clear answers on the relevant service page, then connect deeper technical and industry material through descriptive internal links.
Replace broad claims with useful detail. A hypothetical data engineering service page could explain how the team handles source ownership, reconciliation, migration, and ongoing support. That gives a prospective buyer concrete criteria for a conversation. Repeating that a service is innovative gives them little to evaluate.
Put evidence next to the claim
Show who wrote or reviewed technical material and why their experience is relevant. Explain methods, identify the scope of projects, and link to sources for factual claims. Google's guidance on helpful content emphasizes original value, expertise, and clear sourcing. Treat those as editorial responsibilities, not decorative signals.
For case studies, secure approval for the client details and explain the measurement period, baseline, and limitations of any reported result. When publishable proof is unavailable, describe the delivery method or use a clearly labeled hypothetical example. Assign an owner to review service details and remove claims that no longer match what the business delivers.
Keep discovery technically straightforward
Google's AI features documentation says existing SEO practices remain relevant. Supporting pages must be indexed and eligible to display a snippet. Google does not require special AI markup or a new machine-readable file, and meeting its requirements does not guarantee inclusion.
Check crawl access, internal links, important content in text, and the consistency of structured data with visible content. For ChatGPT search, OpenAI documents OAI-SearchBot separately from GPTBot, which concerns potential training use. Review those controls intentionally, including infrastructure rules that might block permitted crawlers. Access is a prerequisite to discovery, not a promise that your page will be selected.
Measure outcomes within the available evidence
Review available Search Console AI-feature impressions alongside overall search traffic, identifiable referrals, inquiry quality and sales feedback. Bing’s AI Performance report adds citation and grounding observations. These measures answer different questions; none provides complete attribution of AI-search influence on revenue.
A repeated set of relevant prompts can help reveal how answers and cited pages change. Record the date, platform, prompt, and conditions. Treat this as a sample, not a stable ranking report or a complete measure of exposure. Combine those observations with customer interviews and sales feedback. An answer can influence a buyer without producing a visit that analytics can attribute.
Leave the review with a specific editing brief
Choose one priority service page and its strongest supporting evidence page. Ask a colleague unfamiliar with the engagement to find answers to five questions: who is this for, what problem does it address, what work is included, what would make it a poor fit and what evidence supports the claims?
For each missing answer, record the source needed, the person who can supply it and the page where it belongs. If the explanation already exists elsewhere, add a descriptive link only where it helps the reader complete that decision. Remove competing buttons that lead to overlapping service descriptions.
Separate the work into content gaps and discovery defects. A crawlable page with no useful answer needs editorial work. A strong answer hidden from permitted crawlers needs a technical fix. Publish the smallest connected set of pages that resolves the buying questions, then review qualified inquiries, page use, search impressions and identifiable referrals together.
